Self portrait.
2005.
Acrylic Ink applied
with reed & feather.
50 x 70 cms.
In this piece, the form of the face is made by writing the many aspects of my character in different colour inks: the more positive
characteristics in lighter colours, the less positive in darker tones. The background is the text which inspired the work,
referred to in the title.
Why self portraits?
To practise different skills and styles: the sitter is always available: you're not obliged to make conversation:
you don't have to make her look pretty: and staring into one's face and faults for an hour or so is good cheap therapy!
